Senior Airman Lashawn Gayle, 437th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron maintenance special operations specialist, performs the final checks while preparing a Joint Base Charleston C-17 Globemaster III for launch July 31st, 2020 at the JB Charleston flightline, S.C. C-17s from JB Charleston are a part of the NASA human space flight program. As a precautionary measure, U.S. Space Command and the U.S. Air Force assigned teams of search and rescue professionals to stand alert ahead of the launch at Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina; Patrick Air Force Base, Florida; and Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii. The teams are comprised of Pararescuemen, Combat Rescue Officers, and Aircrew Flight Equipment specialists.

The Munitions Flight helps keep JB Charleston safe
August 3, 2020 — Airmen in the munitions flight perform tasks that are vital to JB Charleston's mission such as base support, flightline support, and NASA and spaceX support. Staff Sgt. JB Charleston's Natural Resource Office will be conducting a hunters safety class
July 31, 2020 — Terrence Larimer, Joint Base Charleston's natural resource manager assigned to the 628th Civil Engineer Squadron, answered some questions about the upcoming Hunter Safety Education Classes being held at JB Charleston. Larimer explained what the natural resource office is responsible for. “The natural resource office is in charge of making sure that the natural resources on the base are managed and taken care of in a way that facilitates the military mission,” he said. “We insure that all of the pertinent state and federal natural resource laws are followed so that we don't have any hold ups in the mission activity because of problems with natural resources. The major things that we are charged with taking care if are things like endangered species management, timber management and outdoor recreation” ... MORE

JB Charleston's Weapons and Tactics flight plays a vital role in training on the base
July 24, 2020 — The 437th Operations Support Squadron Weapons and Tactics flight has many jobs that are performed by dedicated Airmen to keep Joint Base Charleston's mission going.
