JB Charleston Naval Health Clinic prepares for Navy-wide COVID-19 testing

Hospital Corpsman Petty Officer 1st Class Daniel Williams, assigned to the Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command, demonstrates how to safely put a swab in a test tube that is used to test patients for COVID-19 on July 8, 2020 at the Naval Health Clinic Charleston on Joint Base Charleston, S.C. Hospital Corpsmen from the NHCC were tasked with learning how to administer a COVID-19 swab test. The training will be used to test symptomatic patients and Sailors as well as asymptomatic Sailors to attempt to lessen the spread of the virus.

JB Charleston receives Labrador military working dog

Freddie is a new addition to the military working dog section at JB Charleston and is currently the only Labrador. She is an explosive detector dog but performs additional tasks that other MWDs at JB Charleston do not such as an extra off-leash capability. She was also trained on three additional explosive odors.

JB Charleston dental clinic remains operational to continue the mission

Dental clinic personnel from the 628th Operational Medical Readiness Squadron pose for a photo at Joint Base Charleston, S.C. The dental clinic is open for dental emergencies and deployment exams and has recently started taking annual exams. Dental clinic personnel are protecting their patients and themselves by regularly cleaning surfaces, wearing masks and gloves, reducing the number of patients they see, practicing physical distancing whenever possible and having patients use pretreatment mouth rinse.
