JB Charleston's Natural Resource Office will be conducting a hunters safety class

— Terrence Larimer, Joint Base Charleston's natural resource manager assigned to the 628th Civil Engineer Squadron, answered some questions about the upcoming Hunter Safety Education Classes being held at JB Charleston. Larimer explained what the natural resource office is responsible for. “The natural resource office is in charge of making sure that the natural resources on the base are managed and taken care of in a way that facilitates the military mission,” he said. “We insure that all of the pertinent state and federal natural resource laws are followed so that we don't have any hold ups in the mission activity because of problems with natural resources. The major things that we are charged with taking care if are things like endangered species management, timber management and outdoor recreation” ...

— Military working dogs have many jobs such as finding bombs, explosives and people, which are vital to keeping people and the base safe. When most people think of a MWD, they think of German Shepherds, but there are other breeds, such as Labradors and Belgian Malinois, that serve in the military. Staff Sgt. Jenings Casey, a military working dog trainer assigned to the 628th Security Forces Squadron, said Joint Base Charleston recently got a Labrador named Freddy.
