628th HVAC works to keep JB Charleston up and running

Airman 1st Class Robert Castillo-Ramirez, a heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration apprentice assigned to the 628th Civil Engineer Squadron, troubleshoots a water source heat pump to fix the cooling system for the 560th RED HORSE Squadron’s operations building at Joint Base Charleston, S.C., July 9, 2020. Members of the 628th CES/HVAC service around 270 buildings throughout the base to keep the infrastructure maintained and developed.

JB Charleston receives Labrador military working dog

Military working dog Freddie plays outside before daily training, June 30, 2020 on Joint Base Charleston, S.C. Freddie is a new addition to the military working dog section at JB Charleston and is currently the only Labrador. She is an explosive detector dog but performs additional tasks that other MWDs at JB Charleston do not such as an extra off-leash capability. She was also trained on three additional explosive odors.

JB Charleston dental clinic remains operational to continue the mission

Dental clinic personnel from the 628th Operational Medical Readiness Squadron pose for a photo at Joint Base Charleston, S.C. The dental clinic is open for dental emergencies and deployment exams and has recently started taking annual exams. Dental clinic personnel are protecting their patients and themselves by regularly cleaning surfaces, wearing masks and gloves, reducing the number of patients they see, practicing physical distancing whenever possible and having patients use pretreatment mouth rinse.

Airman earns Bronze Star through resilience and excellence

U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. John Barrett, 628th Logistics Readiness Squadron commander presents Tech. Sgt. David Hoy, 628th LRS Fuels Control Center NCO in charge, a Bronze Star Medal award for his excellence during a deployment to Afghanistan, June 18, 2020 at Joint Base Charleston, S.C. During his deployment, Hoy traveled to various Afghan bases where he would advise on processes involving jet fuels transport and storage. He was rewarded with the Bronze Star Medal as a result of his commitment to the mission.
