JB Charleston's Natural Resource Office will be conducting a hunters safety class
July 31, 2020 — Terrence Larimer, Joint Base Charleston's natural resource manager assigned to the 628th Civil Engineer Squadron, answered some questions about the upcoming Hunter Safety Education Classes being held at JB Charleston. Larimer explained what the natural resource office is responsible for. “The natural resource office is in charge of making sure that the natural resources on the base are managed and taken care of in a way that facilitates the military mission,” he said. “We insure that all of the pertinent state and federal natural resource laws are followed so that we don't have any hold ups in the mission activity because of problems with natural resources. The major things that we are charged with taking care if are things like endangered species management, timber management and outdoor recreation” ... MORE

JB Charleston's Weapons and Tactics flight plays a vital role in training on the base
July 24, 2020 — The 437th Operations Support Squadron Weapons and Tactics flight has many jobs that are performed by dedicated Airmen to keep Joint Base Charleston's mission going. JB Charleston Naval Health Clinic prepares for Navy-wide COVID-19 testing
July 17, 2020 — As the COVID-19 virus continues to spread around the world, medical professionals at Joint Base Charleston are taking preventative measures in an attempt to slow down the spread. Hospital corpsmen at the JB Charleston Naval Health Clinic are training on how to administer a COVID-19 swab test in order for more testers to be ready to perform more tests on patients and Sailors. ... Hospital Corpsman Petty Officer 1st Class Daniel Williams, assigned to the Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command, demonstrates how to safely put a swab in a test tube that is used to test patients for COVID-19 on July 8, 2020 at the Naval Health Clinic Charleston on Joint Base Charleston, S.C. Hospital Corpsmen from the NHCC were tasked with learning how to administer a COVID-19 swab test. July 15, 2020 — The Joint Base Charleston Palmetto Spark Innovation Lab celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday July 10, at Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina. July 14, 2020 — The 628th Civil Engineer Squadron’s heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration flight provides service and maintenance to nearly 270 buildings at Joint Base Charleston. JB Charleston receives Labrador military working dog
July 8, 2020 — Military working dogs have many jobs such as finding bombs, explosives and people, which are vital to keeping people and the base safe. When most people think of a MWD, they think of German Shepherds, but there are other breeds, such as Labradors and Belgian Malinois, that serve in the military. Staff Sgt. Jenings Casey, a military working dog trainer assigned to the 628th Security Forces Squadron, said Joint Base Charleston recently got a Labrador named Freddy. She was originally in the Marine Corps, but they recently downsized their military working dog section and the Air Force took in multiple labs. She is currently the only lab at JB Charleston. ... She is an explosive detector dog but performs additional tasks that other MWDs at JB Charleston do not such as an extra off-leash capability.
