NIWC Atlantic’s Miller selected Assistant Deputy CNO for Information Warfare
May 9, 2019 — Chris Miller, Naval Information Warfare Center Atlantic Executive Director, has been selected as Assistant Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Information Warfare (N2/N6B). In this position, Miller will manage strategy, requirements, policy and resources for the Navy’s Communications, Networks, ISR, Oceanography, Space, Cyber, Electronic Warfare and Command and Control capabilities. N2/N6 is the primary resource sponsor for Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command, including NIWC Atlantic located in Charleston, where Miller currently serves. Reservists participate in patient evacuation exercise
May 8, 2019 — Members of the 315th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron participated in a National Disaster Medical System exercise May 7, 2019 at Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport, South Carolina. The exercise replicated a real life scenario in which critically injured patients were airlifted from Charleston, South Carolina to Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport after a national disaster. Single-Parent Reservist rises above challenges to earn wings
May 6, 2019 — Imagine being a single-parent of two, completing a bachelor's degree and independently financing pilot training in order to accomplish the dream of becoming a reserve pilot with the 315th Airlift Wing, all within five short years. JB Charleston participates in Holocaust Remembrance Week
May 3, 2019 — Joint Base Charleston held events in honor of Holocaust Remembrance Week from April 29 to May 3, 2019. During the week, the special observance committee helped put together events such as a 5k race, Airmen reading the names 5,000 lives that were lost in the Holocaust and a speaking event where a Holocaust survivor and a College of Charleston professor spoke to Airmen to help teach and remind people of the events that occurred and to ensure they aren’t repeated... April 29, 2019 — Joint Base Charleston hosted four town halls from March 26-28 and four additional town halls April 26-27 to inform service members and residents about changes affecting the installation as well as to create a forum to ask questions and give feedback directly to base leadership. The JB Charleston town halls were held both on the Air Base and Naval Weapons Station and base members could participate on Facebook Live. “My number one priority is the safety and well-being of all of our service members and their families,” said Col. Terrence Adams, commander of JB Charleston. “Holding these town halls are vital in letting our community know that we’re here to listen and take care of our service members, DOD civilians and families.”... 2019 Month of the Military Child
April 29, 2019 — A photo-series recognizing April as Month of the Military Child. Former Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger first designated the month in 1986 to honor the sacrifices of the military family and to highlight the impact military service can have on children. According to a DOD study, the average child in a military family will change schools six to nine times during a school career.
