Exercise Dragon Lifeline provides joint force, rapid deployment training

U.S. Army Soldiers from Fort Bragg, N.C., move equipment to prepare a rail system before receiving military vehicles as part of Exercise Dragon Lifeline Aug. 7, 2019, at Joint Base Charleston’s Naval Weapons Station, S.C. The exercise provided military personnel with experience needed to support rapid deployment operations across air, land, rail and sea. JB Charleston helps to provide rapid global deployment of personnel and equipment to deployed locations across the globe. AMC commander, command chief visit JB Charleston

Miller visited JB Charleston July 29 to August 1 to get a first-hand look at mission capabilities, new innovative programs and how JB Charleston is taking care of its service members to build a stronger mobility force. AMC’s mission is to provide rapid, global mobility and sustainment for America's armed forces. The command also plays a crucial role in providing humanitarian support at home and around the world.

JB Charleston supports USCG mission partners in maintaining readiness

A U.S. Coast Guard gunner’s mate from USCG Cutter Hamilton participates in annual combat arms training at Joint Base Charleston, S.C., Aug. 1, 2019. Coast Guard combat arms instructors from U.S. Coast Guard Sector Charleston assisted in the evaluation of the guardsmen to ensure they were ready and worldwide qualified for their next mission. Combat Arms Training and Maintenance instructors support the readiness of Joint Base Charleston’s mission partners through training and evaluating service members on proficiently operating and safely handling their weapons. The partnership between Air Force and Coast Guard personnel supports USCG Sector Charleston in their mission of performing maritime safety, security and stewardship in their area of responsibility.

Det 5: Training Airmen from simulation to mobilization

Detachment 5 utilizes a 44,000 square foot maintenance training facility to safely and effectively train Mobility Airmen throughout the Air Force on maintenance and repair procedures. The instructor team provides over 20,000 hours of instruction per year to new and seasoned avionic maintainers of the U.S. and partnered militaries who also utilize similar airframes. The Airmen are trained on innovative simulators in a safety oriented environment to maximize their effectiveness on the flightline. The C-17 Maintenance Trainer Development Team is comprised of training instructors from multiple Air Force Specialty Codes who fill the role as subject matter experts for the development of maintenance Airmen.

CATM zeroes in on targets
