JB Charleston FD welcomes new trucks, honors past firefighters

Members of the 628th Civil Engineer Squadron Fire Department push a firetruck during a push-in ceremony at Joint Base Charleston, S.C. Aug. 27, 2019. The push-in ceremony was a way for the Fire Department to welcome two new firetrucks to their fleet, a P-26 water tanker and a P-26 aerial apparatus, and was the first of its kind at JB Charleston. Push-in ceremonies date back to when firefighters responded with horses and carriages and pushed their carriages back into stalls after returning from a call.

Air Force supports Army during joint BMTW exercise

Paratroopers assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division board a Joint Base Charleston C-17 Globemaster III before performing a parachute assault exercise during Battalion Mobility Tactical Week at Fort Bragg, N.C., Aug. 19, 2019. Battalion Mass Tactical Week is a joint exercise involving the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Army designed to enhance service members’ abilities by practicing contingency operations in a controlled environment. The exercise incorporated three C-130J Super Hercules assigned to Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas, three C-17 Globemaster IIIs assigned to Joint Base Charleston, S.C. and Army paratroopers assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division of Fort Bragg, N.C. The exercise allowed all parties to quickly and safely complete training tasks, such as personnel and cargo air drops, to prepare joint forces to operate during global mobility missions.

Operation SHRIMP and GRITS promotes boating safety

Operation SHRIMP and GRITS is an annual multi-jurisdiction and multi-state maritime  law enforcement operation that promotes safety to recreational and commercial boaters traveling along the water across South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Florida. Approximately 104 different agencies in the four states participated in the operation with the U.S. Coast Guard, covering about 500 miles of coastline.

Exercise Dragon Lifeline provides joint force, rapid deployment training

AMC commander, command chief visit JB Charleston

Miller spoke about AMC’s priorities, mission and how Airmen play a role in the mission. Miller visited JB Charleston July 29 to August 1 to get a first-hand look at mission capabilities, new innovative programs and how JB Charleston is taking care of its service members to build a stronger mobility force. AMC’s mission is to provide rapid, global mobility and sustainment for America's armed forces. The command also plays a crucial role in providing humanitarian support at home and around the world.

JB Charleston supports USCG mission partners in maintaining readiness

Coast Guard combat arms instructors from U.S. Coast Guard Sector Charleston assisted in the evaluation of the guardsmen to ensure they were ready and worldwide qualified for their next mission. Combat Arms Training and Maintenance instructors support the readiness of Joint Base Charleston’s mission partners through training and evaluating service members on proficiently operating and safely handling their weapons. The partnership between Air Force and Coast Guard personnel supports USCG Sector Charleston in their mission of performing maritime safety, security and stewardship in their area of responsibility.
