JBC town halls enhance discussion and feedback
April 11, 2019 — Joint Base Charleston recently hosted four town halls from March 26-28, 2019, to inform service members and residents about changes affecting the installation as well as create a forum to ask questions and give feedback directly to base leadership. The JBC town halls were held both on the Air Base and Naval Weapons Station and base members could participate on Facebook Live. 628th Medical Group Pharmacy remodel improves customer experience
April 8, 2019 — When Maj. Amanda E. Ferguson assumed her position as 628th Medical Group’s Pharmacy Flight commander in August 2017, she was determined to engage her team and unlock their innovative potential, a goal she shared that year in an article entitled, “70 years: Our Legacy through Airmen’s Eyes.” In it, Ferguson wrote, “The opportunity to lead [Airmen] and watch their ideas ignite one after the other is by-far the best part of my job.” Last month, their vision came to fruition. After 12 months of deliberate planning, coordination and execution, the 628 MDG’s customers will enjoy expedited service for active duty and those seen in-clinic, an advanced automated check-in services through an IT system called Q-flow, expedited pick-up process through the use of a new IT system called GSL, a streamlined layout redesign, access to compounding therapy, more therapeutic options, text notification in lieu of waiting, and even optimized robots for filling prescriptions... Security forces Airman wins Women In Defense award
April 3, 2019 — Senior Airman Sofia Espinoza, 628th Security Forces Squadron base armorer, was awarded the 2018 Junior Enlisted Woman of the Year award by the Palmetto Chapter of Women In Defense March 21, 2019. Espinoza was presented the award during the 9th annual Military Woman of Year event held at the Founders Hall at Charles Towne Landing, Charleston, S.C. Upon receiving the award, Espinoza noted, “As the first one in my family to serve, it is honor to receive this and I am thankful for leadership and family who continually encourage me to work hard for my goals.” ... NIWC Atlantic develops prototype app for Navy divers
April 1, 2019 — A Naval Information Warfare Center Atlantic team recently completed an Automated Dive Profile Data Transmission and Synchronization prototype aimed at streamlining the dive logging process for Navy dive units. La’Keisha Williams, NIWC Atlantic Science and Technology principle investigator, led the year-long management effort on the prototype, which attempts to transition Navy divers to an entirely digital platform for records keeping. ... Airman Leadership School Class 19C graduates
March 29, 2019 — Airmen were honored with awards during the Airman Leadership School Graduation Ceremony for Class 19-C March 28, 2019, at Joint Base Charleston, S.C. Among the awards presented were the Distinguished Graduate, Academic Achievement and Commandants awards. Leadership also presented the John L. Levitow Award, the highest honor presented to an ALS graduate, given to the Airman who displays the highest level of leadership qualities during the course.
