EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- The Atlantic hurricane season begins June 1 and runs through Nov. 30. Since the Atlantic Hurricane Season officially opens June 1, Team Eglin members should gear up now for what is expected to be an above average hurricane season, according to a recent advisory issued by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's National Hurricane Center. The NHC is predicting the Atlantic hurricane season to have a 75 percent chance of being an "above average" season. (Courtesy graphic)

Naval Consolidated Brig adopts canines for veterans program

Since the program's inception in 1996, 10 dogs valued at more than $400,000 have been placed with wounded warriors, allowing disabled veterans more independence. Airman 1st Class Joy Clayton wins first place after singing Natural Woman by Aretha Franklin during Air Mobility Command ICON at Joint Base Charleston, S.C., Aug.11, 2010. AMC Icon is based loosely around the TV show, American Idol. AMC Icon is designed to showcase the vocal talents of the AMC communities. The top rated AMC active duty Air Force participant from each base will be that installations representative in the command finals. Airman Clayton won $500 and also received a Millie Lewis Scholarship which is for an eight week Advanced Professional course designed for those who wish to continue their personal development, as well as becoming involved and skilled in the exciting world of commercial print and/or fashion modeling.
