Airman 1st Class Jeffrey Montgomery connects the waste suction hose to the lavatory service outlet on the underbelly of a C-17 Globemaster III Sept. 7, 2010, on Joint Base Charleston, S.C. Airmen on lavatory service duty first pump water into the tank to break apart waste particles making the removal process smoother. Once the waste is removed, "Blue Juice" is pumped back into the system which is a cocktail comprised of water, anti-freeze and an anti-smell agent. Chief Master Sgt. Terrence Greene and Col. John Wood serve lunch to Staff Sgt. Donald Robinson at the Gaylor Dining Facility on Joint Base Charleston, S.C., Sept. 1, 2010. The 437th command chief and commander sat down with 18 Airmen from various squadrons from the 437th Airlift Wing to discuss topics that concerned Airmen. A long awaited reunion

Master Sgt. Jamey Elms and his daughter, Audrey share a joyful, surprise reunion at her school upon Sergeant Elms' return from a four month deployment overseas Sept. 8, 2010. Audrey was on her way to lunch when she spotted her dad just around the corner. After the momentary shock wore off, she flung herself into his arms for a tearful reunion. This was Sergeant Elms' first deployment away from his family but he said the use modern communication eased the separation. Sergeant Elms is a crew chief with the 437th Maintenance Squadron. 560 REDHORSE trains by lending a hand

C-17 conducts flight test with biofuel
September 8, 2010 — The Air Force's ongoing alternative fuels certification efforts reached a new milestone Aug. 27 when a C-17 Globemaster III from Edwards Air Force Base, Calif., flew on all engines using jet fuel blended with a combination of traditional petroleum-based fuel, or JP-8, biofuel derived in part from animal fat, and synthetic fuel derived from coal.The...
