Current, former Airmen eligible for stop loss special pay

Current and former Airmen who were involuntarily held on active duty beyond an approved separation or retirement date as a result of stop-loss between Sept. 11, 2001, and Sept. 30, 2009, may be eligible for a retroactive stop-loss special pay compensation of $500 for each whole or partial month they were affected. EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- The Atlantic hurricane season begins June 1 and runs through Nov. 30. Since the Atlantic Hurricane Season officially opens June 1, Team Eglin members should gear up now for what is expected to be an above average hurricane season, according to a recent advisory issued by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's National Hurricane Center. The NHC is predicting the Atlantic hurricane season to have a 75 percent chance of being an "above average" season. (Courtesy graphic)

Senior Airman Samuel Siewert receives a congratulatory phone call from Gen. Raymond Johns July 27, 2010, at Joint Base Charleston, S.C., informing him he was selected from nominees across the entire Air Force as one of the 12 Outstanding Airmen of the Year. Airman Siewert was declared the number one life-saver out of 50 candidates and earned an advance Personal Protective Equipment Officer Designator and Breathing Apparatus Technician certification. Airman Siewert volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, the civil engineer haunted house, blood drive and provided briefings on fire education at Joint Base Charleston?s Child Development Center.
