Advance assignments now available to Airmen deploying for 365-day Extended Deployments
November 12, 2018 — Beginning Nov. 1, 2018 active duty Airmen selected for an extended deployment may apply to receive an advance assignment up to 16 months prior to the projected Report Not Later Than Date of the assignment. This means Airmen can have Permanent Change of Station orders in hand immediately after completing all required PCS actions and before departing on their deployment, providing their dependents the option to move early to their next assignment location... The ship’s crew took the USCG Academy class of 1965 on a tour of the Charleston Harbor during the 50-year anniversary of when they deployed to Vietnam. Reservists credit teamwork in lifesaving mission
November 8, 2018 — As if by fate, a weather delay in Germany allowed a group of reservists to embark on a challenging 22-and-a-half-hour mission to help save a fellow service member. Drug Demand Reduction Program raises awareness for Red Ribbon Week
November 5, 2018 — Joint Base Charleston’s efforts toward drug and alcohol prevention went up a notch in support of Red Ribbon Week, which takes place annually from Oct. 22-30. Red Ribbon Week is an annual event to help bring awareness and education to not only military members and their families, but communities nationwide. JB Charleston’s drug demand reduction program held events in conjunction with the annual weekly event by going to schools and youth centers on the Air Base and Naval Weapons Station to help develop and care for Airmen and their families by teaching the youth about the dangers of drugs and alcohol... A/TA symposium allows JBC Airmen to 'reconnect, recharge, re-blue'
November 1, 2018 — Mobility Airmen from Joint Base Charleston gathered at the 2018 Air Mobility Command and Airlift/Tanker Association Symposium at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine, Texas, Oct. 25-28. The annual convention brings together leadership, industry experts, civic leaders and Airmen from around the globe to discuss opportunities and challenges facing the country as well as AMC. October 29, 2018 — Air Mobility Command held its first-ever Phoenix Spark Tank competition at the Airlift/Tanker Association Symposium in Grapevine, Texas, where four finalists proposed their innovation ideas Oct. 26, 2018, to top Air Force leaders and the president of VOX Space. The competition, which is part of Secretary of the Air Force Heather Wilson’s innovation initiative, encourages Airmen of all ranks and careers to generate innovative ideas that save time, money and maintain readiness. ...
