MX, CES Airmen perform first of its kind repair in AOR
December 31, 2018 — Airmen of the 8th Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Squadron and 379th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron teamed up Dec. 16-18, 2018, at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar, to replace the pitch trim actuator on a C-17 Globemaster III from Joint Base Charleston, S.C... MORE

Airmen of the 8th Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Squadron (EAMS) and 379th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron (ECES), work together using an alternative safe method to remove and replace a pitch trim actuator from the tail of a C-17 Globemaster III Dec. 16, 2018, at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar. This is the first time a maintenance procedure like this has been done in U.S. Air Forces Central Command’s area of responsibility. SSC Atlantic names 2018 Employees of the Year

December 17, 2018 — Yeoman First Class Kealy R. Lee was named the Navy Consolidated Brig Charleston's Sailor of the Year by Cmdr. Carl W. Brobst, NAVCONBRIG Charleston's commander Oct. 15, 2018, at Joint Base Charleston - Weapons Station. The ceremony was held during a Commanding Officer’s command-wide all hands call where Lee was presented a plaque for the unique honor and achievement. 841st Transportation Battalion supports major 1st Infantry Division movement
December 13, 2018 — The 841st Transportation Battalion from Joint Base Charleston, S.C. and the 1st Infantry Division from Ft. Riley, Kan., worked together to receive, document, organize and ship over 2,400 pieces of equipment in support of Atlantic Resolve, a demonstration of continued U.S. commitment to NATO allies and partner nations in Eastern Europe, which involves a regular rotation of equipment and forces . The 841st was the logistics hub to receive 10 trains and line haul equipment as part of Atlantic Resolve’s ongoing mission. Charleston Pearl Harbor Remembrance Ceremony
December 10, 2018 — Service members and civilians from Joint Base Charleston were among the approximately 200 people attended the event to honor the service and sacrifice of those who died in the Pearl Harbor attacks on Dec. 7, 1941. In all, more than 2,403 U.S. service members and civilians lost their lives, including 25 from South Carolina. December 10, 2018 — Army Gen. Stephen Lyons, commander of U.S. Transportation Command, visits Joint Base Charleston, S.C., Dec. 6, 2018. Lyons visited JB Charleston as part of an effort to familiarize himself with the base’s global mobility capabilities. USTRANSCOM is a unified, functional combatant command that provides support to the nine other U.S. combatant commands, the military services, defense agencies and other government organizations. As commander, Lyons is responsible for delivering globally-integrated mobility, deployment and distribution solutions and enabling capabilities for full-spectrum requirements in support of national objectives.
