North Charleston Sewer District responds to sewer overflow on JBC

Workers from Eadies Construction Inc. unroll a hose Feb. 22 to pump sewage from the field near the youth center here after a sewer line broke Feb. 21. While the line is on base, it is still maintained by the North Charleston Sewer District. Multiple construction companies were contracted out by the NCSD to assist in cleaning up the field and to ensure the proper precautions are put in place to maintain a sanitation standard. C-17 Globemaster III aircraft sit draped in snow on the flightline at Joint Base Charleston Feb. 13 after an overnight snowstorm delivered more than three inches of snow. During the recent winter months, nightly low temperatures have dropped and the use of deicing machines to clear aircraft of debilitating ice sheets is commonly required. The snowstorm was an uncommon event for the Charleston area, resulting in several delayed takeoffs due to the base's first measurable snowfall in more than 10 years.
