Each month, DeVore and his staff visit a different 628th unit and receive hands-on tutorials on specific job. As fuels hydrant operators, Devore, Bronson, and Master Chief Petty Officer Joseph Gardner, Naval Support Activity command master chief, learned how to drain wastewater on the flight line, refuel a Boeing C-17 Globemaster III and test samples of aircraft fuel.
