MX, CES Airmen perform first of its kind repair in AOR

Airmen of the 8th Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Squadron (EAMS) and 379th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron (ECES), work together using an alternative safe method to remove and replace a pitch trim actuator from the tail of a C-17 Globemaster III Dec. 16, 2018, at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar. This is the first time a maintenance procedure like this has been done in U.S. Air Forces Central Command’s area of responsibility. Foreign Naval officers dive into Air Mobility
November 16, 2018
A group of Naval War College students, comprised of foreign and joint military officers, stand outside a C-17 Globemaster III aircraft during a Nov. 13, 2018, visit to Joint Base Charleston, S.C. The visit educated naval officers about air mobility operations and was the first time international students from the Naval Command College’s Arleigh Burke Fellowship program had visited JB Charleston. The NCC is part of the U.S. Naval War College, located in Newport, Rhode Island, and focuses on educating and developing future leaders by building strategic and cultural perspective and enhancing the capability to advise senior leaders and policy-makers.

Joint Base leadership presented Airmen with their Community College of the Air Force degree in their respective career fields Oct. 4, 2018 at the Charleston Club. The Community College of the Air Force is a federally-chartered degree-granting institution that serves the United States Air Forces’ enlisted total force.

New leader assumes command of 628th Air Base Wing

Col. Terrence Adams renders his first salute as commander to the men and women of the 628th Air Base Wing during a change of command ceremony Sept. 5, 2018, at Joint Base Charleston, S.C. Adams replaced Col. Jeff Nelson as commander of the wing and joint base after serving at Scott Air Force Base, Ill., as Air Mobility Command’s director of communications and chief information officer. Joint Base Charleston is one of 12 Department of Defense joint bases and is host to over 60 DOD and federal agencies. The 628th ABW delivers installation support to over 90,000 Airmen, Sailors, Soldiers, Marines, Coast Guardsmen, civilians, dependents and retirees across four installations including the Air Base and Naval Weapons Station.
