Air Force photo contest winners highlight family theme
October 28, 2020 — The Air Force recently announced its 2020 photo contest winners. The winners – first, second and third place in five categories – were among more than 600 entries submitted for the annual contest. Entries for this year’s competition with a theme of “We Are Family” were submitted during July. Participants entered up to two images for one of the categories. Joint Base Charleston delivers Russia bound ventilators

International Chemical Weapons Convention Treaty tested at JB Charleston
May 15, 2019 — Joint Base Charleston Air Base hosted a week-long Chemical Weapons Convention exercise Jan. 7-11, 2019. The purpose of the exercise was to test the response of Air Force Major Command Base Assistance Teams here should the U.S. receive an international challenge inspection under the Chemical Weapons Convention Treaty. A similar exercise was conducted May 16, 2019, at Naval Weapons Station Charleston, Joint Base Charleston, S.C. “This annual training tests our ability to respond to a challenge inspection under the treaty. During the exercise and in real world, the Air Force would be the lead,” said Kimbrell. “The Army and Navy would only assist if the Naval Weapons Station were included in the final inspection perimeter.” ... 2019 Month of the Military Child
April 29, 2019 — A photo-series recognizing April as Month of the Military Child. Former Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger first designated the month in 1986 to honor the sacrifices of the military family and to highlight the impact military service can have on children. According to a DOD study, the average child in a military family will change schools six to nine times during a school career. JBC town halls enhance discussion and feedback
April 11, 2019 — Joint Base Charleston recently hosted four town halls from March 26-28, 2019, to inform service members and residents about changes affecting the installation as well as create a forum to ask questions and give feedback directly to base leadership. The JBC town halls were held both on the Air Base and Naval Weapons Station and base members could participate on Facebook Live. More town hall meetings on the topic of housing will be held in April. ... MORE
