Charleston becomes first AFB to ship HMEEs

An Airman from the Memphis Air National Guard guides an HMEE into the back of a C-5 on the Charleston AFB flightline Sept. 29. Charleston AFB is the first Air Force base to help in aiding in transporting the vehicles to forward deployed Soldiers and contractors in hostile environments. The HMEE is a newly developed military construction vehicle capable of a wide range of mobility affording more protection for the operator than conventional excavators.
