Two birds, one shot

Members of Joint Base Charleston receive their annual flu vaccines from the 628th Medical Group (MDG) at a point of distribution during a public health emergency exercise on Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina, Nov. 9, 2016. In the event of a real world incident, members would be given a flu vaccine if they hadn’t already received one, as well as medication to combat the outbreak. To simulate that, those who participated in the exercise were given the vaccination and candy to represent the medication.

MACA highlights Charleston airspace safety

The MACA program is designed to promote aviation safety between military and civilian pilots who share the local airspace. Sharing the mission of JB Charleston with community civilian pilots offers a better understanding of why specific procedures are put in place. The event gives pilots, military and civilian, a forum to discuss flying and aviation safety.

Wing Leadership receives annual flu shots

Sarah Woods, right, 628th Medical Group (MDG) NCO in charge of the allergy and immunizations clinic, Oct. 21. The 628th MDG began offering the flu shot to active-duty service members, children from ages three to 17 and high-risk adults Oct. 17. Beginning Nov. 1, the influenza vaccine is available to all DoD beneficiaries. Additionally, the Air Base Exchange will offer a flu line on Nov. 19 from 1000 to 1300.
