JB Charleston JAG hosts multiservice DOJ conference

The training was held so judge advocates could help defend active duty, guardsmen, reservists and veterans alike under the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act and the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployments Rights Act. These laws help protect them from negative treatment from their employers due to their service.

The U.S. Army Air Forces became the Department of the Air Force after the National Security Act of 1947 was signed. W. Stuart Symington, the first Secretary of the Air Force, was sworn into office Sept. 18, 1947.

JB Charleston honors POW/MIA Recognition Day

Chief Master Sgt. Mark Cantrell, from the 628 Security Forces Squadron, and senior enlisted leaders from each service carry the POW/MIA flag along with flags from each branch of service at Nose Dock 2, September 16, 2016, at Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina.  Every year, members from the base participate in a 24-hour vigil run, a luncheon to honor prisoners of war and those that are missing in action, as well as a formal retreat ceremony.
