JB Charleston honors POW/MIA Recognition Day
September 19, 2016
Chief Master Sgt. Mark Cantrell, from the 628 Security Forces Squadron, and senior enlisted leaders from each service carry the POW/MIA flag along with flags from each branch of service at Nose Dock 2, September 16, 2016, at Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina.  Every year, members from the base participate in a 24-hour vigil run, a luncheon to honor prisoners of war and those that are missing in action, as well as a formal retreat ceremony.

Eternal Father of the Sea Chapel Rededicated

The Eternal Father of the Sea Chapel, also known as building 1179, was erected in 1942 as a temporary chapel to serve the growing population of the Charleston Naval base during World War II.
