315 AW recruiters help spread holiday cheer at commissary
December 21, 2023 — The 315th Airlift Wing’s Recruiting Flight teamed up with the commissary at Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina to give gift cards to local military members and veterans. The recruiters began volunteering in October as baggers at the base commissary and donated their tips to purchase the gift cards for commissary patrons who could use a little extra during the holidays... April 26, 2021 — As the world-wide pandemic surpasses it’s year mark, aircrew members from the 315th Airlift Wing continues its complex global reach mission, despite the challenges brought by COVID-19. This mission, already complex, flying two helicopters to South America inside a C-17 Globemaster III, was made more difficult by adding two loadmaster evaluations, a language barrier and precautions put in place due to the ongoing pandemic. ... March 21, 2019 — Over 110 middle and high school girls from 15 Lowcountry schools attended the 315th Airlift Wing’s 12th Annual Women in Aviation Career Day March 19, 2019, at Joint Base Charleston, S.C. The wing’s WIA vision is “investing in tomorrow’s leaders” and the event’s organizers have many inspirational women who wear the uniform to help them out. One example is Senior Master Sgt. Valerie Langford, 315th Force Support Squadron, who has been with the program for many years. February 14, 2019 — A Reserve aircrew’s wise planning helped them complete a high-profile airlift mission Feb. 12 – delivering the remains of U.S. Rep. John Dingell back to Washington – despite crippling winter weather that prevented other aircraft from landing at Detroit Metropolitan Airport, Michigan. A Charleston C-17 Globemaster III flown by a crew from the 701st Airlift Squadron was tasked with transporting the former Democratic Congressman’s remains and his family back to Joint Base Andrews where it would be carried by motorcade through the Capitol to be buried at Arlington National Cemetery...
