JB Charleston executes full-spectrum readiness exercise
November 19, 2018 — The 628th Air Base Wing, 437th Airlift Wing and 315th Airlift Wing teamed up for a total force rapid mobility exercise Nov. 12-17, 2018. The exercise focused on total force readiness, mobilization, base defense and quick-response airlift capabilities, according to Col. Thirty seven C-17s, 21 C-130 Hercules and 120 U.S. Army paratroopers participated in the mobility portion of the WSINT phase during a simulated mass JFE event over a contested target on a range near Nellis Air Force Base, Nev. The event is designed to teach Airmen how to get safely to their target and direct airpower and follow-on forces to that target.

As part of the support, two C-17 Globemaster IIIs and one C-5M Super Galaxy from Air Mobility Command are delivering needed equipment and expertise to assist a partner nation. The first flight from Joint Base Charleston is carrying a tow bar, a Tunner 60K Aircraft Cargo Loader and three members of the 437th Aerial Port Squadron. While on the ground, the team will be conducting runway assessments prior to other equipment arriving in country. Additional U.S. Air Force support will be provided to aid efforts.
