Wearing jeans and making a statement

Naval Health Clinic Charleston Sailors and civilians wore their jeans to work as part of the Denim Day campaign. The Denim Day campaign began after the Italian Supreme Court overturned a rape conviction. The justices ruled the rape victim was wearing tight jeans that could only she could remove, thereby implying consent. The following day, the women in the Italian Parliament came to work wearing jeans in solidarity with the victim. Since then, wearing jeans on Denim Day has become a symbol of protest against erroneous and destructive attitudes about sexual assault. Front row: Lt. NEX earns big money for MWR ... recognizes staff at awards ceremony

Timothy Sparks, Naval Support Activity commanding officer and Beth Munoz, Navy Exchange general manager, congratulate Brittany Batten, the 2013 NEX Employee of the Year, during the NEX annual award ceremony April 23, 2014, at Joint Base Charleston. The NEX earned $851,000 for Morale, Welfare and Recreation on sales of more than $28 million.
