JB Charleston hosts annual motorcycle safety event

C-17 aircrew members conquer in-flight AERPS training

Jason Carroll, 15th Airlift Squadron airdrop instructor pilot, flies to North Auxiliary Airfield in North, South Carolina, March 15, 2017 to execute in-flight training with aircrew eye and respiratory protection system (AERPS) equipment. The flight marked the first time in more than 10 years where aircrews wore AERPS equipment. AERPS equipment consists of a rubber mask, multiple layers of boots and gloves, fan filter system and an audio and speaker system.

Exercise Bonny Jack was a two-day mobility exercise testing the cargo deployment capabilities of the 437th Airlift Wing. Members of Team Charleston conducted 24-hour operations for the exercise to move 95 short tons of cargo.

PAX Terminal to undergo renovations

Col. Jimmy Canlas, 437th Airlift Wing commander, swings a sledgehammer to start construction of the new 437th Aerial Port Squadron Passenger Terminal here, Feb. 23, 2017. The passenger terminal is being renovated to improve the facility by adding a new fire suppression system, roof, utility systems, restrooms inside the gated area and a redesigned family room. The passenger terminal will operate out of a temporary facility until construction is complete. Signage is in place to direct passengers and base personnel from the old terminal to the temporary location.
