Warrior of the Week: Staff Sgt. Jonell McFadden

By | 437th Aerial Port Squadron | July 17, 2007

CHARLESTON AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. -- Staff Sgt. Jonell McFadden is a fleet services specialist with the 437th Aerial Port Squadron and has been stationed at Charleston AFB for more than 5 years.

As a supervisor for fleet services, he is responsible for properly servicing C-17s prior to departure. He supervises 17 to 20 Airmen on any given day. He also ensures that aircraft are cleaned and supplied with health and comfort items prior to departure.

Sergeant McFadden is a native of Olanta, S.C. He enlisted in the Air Force 12 years ago to travel, have career opportunities and to improve his lifestyle. He was not happy about the future of working full time in a fast food establishment the rest of his life.

"I enjoy my job because I get tremendous satisfaction from my job," said Sergeant McFadden. "And my job is important because a properly serviced aircraft makes for a happy crew, and another on-time C-17 departure."

Sergeant McFadden's career goal is to retire from the Air Force as a chief master sergeant. He has recently been selected for promotion to technical sergeant.

"Sergeant McFadden is an outstanding NCO," said Tech. Sgt. Martin Zamora, 437 APS fleet services supervisor. "He is also deserving of his recent selection to technical sergeant because his hard work and leadership has enabled fleet services to meet all mission requirements."
