All classes/appointments are typically held at the Airman & Family Readiness Center, Bldg. 500, Air Base (AB), or at the Fleet and Family Support Center, Bldg. 755, Weapons Station (WS) unless otherwise specified. Air Force Base

Feb. 4

  • Buying Your New Wheels - 2:00pm – 3:30 pm. Don’t make an uneducated decision about your upcoming car purchase. Learn how to make a financially wise decision through building an effective budget and establishing credit – BEFORE you go car shopping. Additional topics include financing, sales tactics, negotiation techniques and the process of trading in a current vehicle.

Feb. 5-6

  • Entrepreneur Training Track - 8:30am –4:30pm. A two-day course offered as an additional TAP workshop for those interested in learning more about the opportunities and challenges of business ownership. It is instructed by subject matter experts and practitioners from the SBA, SBA Resource Partners. Upon completion, participants are eligible for an eight-week instructor-led online course.

 Feb. 5

  • PCS Prep - 2:00pm-3:30pm. In conjunction with MPS, this mandatory workshop preps the attendee for orders and provides expert advice from several agencies to help with the relocation.  Spouses are encouraged to attend.

Feb. 6

  • Pre-separation Counseling - 8:30am-11:30am. Learn benefits and resources for vets. This is a prerequisite to Transition GPS Workshop.  Schedule yours 12/24 months prior to separating/retiring respectively.

Feb. 11-15

  • Transition GPS Workshop - 8:00am – 4:30pm. Learn to transition and become “career ready” with ease!  Dept. of Labor Employment workshop and VA Benefits Briefing included.

Feb. 11

  • VA Workshop for Disability Compensation Claims - 8:00am – 1:00pm. A VA rep will cover the disability claims process and provide some individual assistance.  Members must sign-up at the Medical Clinic, Records Section, and NLT than Monday prior to the workshop.

Feb. 12

  • PCS Prep - 2:00pm – 3:30pm. In conjunction with MPS, this mandatory workshop preps the attendee for orders and provides expert advice from several agencies to help with the relocation.  Spouses are encouraged to attend.

Feb. 13

  • My New Space - 8:00am – 9:30am. Mandatory PFR workshop that must be attended prior to Airman moving out of the dorms (ideally at the 2 year mark or prior to getting married). The goal is to financially prepare the Airman for living off base. Topics include house vs apartment, roommates, lease agreements, budgeting, credit and saving.

Feb. 14

  • Employer Panel - 11:30am – 1:00pm. Various employers will service on a panel to answer industry and interview related questions, some will potentially be hiring.  We encourage all job seekers (active duty military, civilians and spouses) are encouraged to attend.  Business professional attire is required and a resume is highly encouraged. 

Feb. 18

  • Linkedin Workshop - 10:00am – 11:30am. Participants will learn how to develop a comprehensive LinkedIn profile, utilizing all the LinkedIn tools available. Already have a LinkedIn page? Learn all the secrets to building an effective LinkedIn profile.

Feb. 19

  • Resume Ready - 7:30am – 3:30pm. Stop by anytime during the hours of learn how to build an effective civilian resume, or have their existing resume reviewed to ensure they are resume ready!
  • PCS Prep - 2:00pm – 3:30pm. In conjunction with MPS, this mandatory workshop preps the attendee for orders and provides expert advice from several agencies to help with the relocation.  Spouses are encouraged to attend.

Feb. 20

  • Key Spouse Initial Training - 8:00am – 4:00pm. Join us for the initial training for our new Key Spouses.  Attendees must register and are required to bring their Key Spouse Appointment Letter to the training.
  • Interview For Success - 10:00am – 11:30am. Learn the various ways interview are conducted and prepare your 3 minute elevator speech.

  • Navigating Federal Employment - 1:00pm – 3:00pm. Join this workshop and learn how to navigate USA JOBS website and get your federal job!

Feb. 25

  • Building Credit And Paying Off Debt - 11:30am – 1:00pm. Learn about the true impact that credit has on your life. What is the true total cost of your debt? Topics include ways to build or increase a credit score and development of an action plan to pay off debt.

Feb. 26

  • TSP & You – Retire A Millionaire! - 11:30am – 1:00pm. Do you have questions about saving for retirement? Learn the ends and outs of the Thrift Savings Plan. Topics covered include DoD matching contributions, contribution elections, Roth vs. Traditional, account allocations, investment options, index funds and lifecycle funds.
  • PCS Prep - 2:00pm – 3:30pm, in conjunction with MPS, this mandatory workshop preps the attendee for orders and provides expert advice from several agencies to help with the relocation.  Spouses are encouraged to attend.

Feb. 27

  • Spouse Intro To JB Charleston - 9:00am – 11:00am. Fun and fast-paced intro to JB Charleston for military/civilian spouses who have recently moved here. Connect with other newly-arrived spouses, learn about resources and learn where to shop, dine and play in the Lowcountry.
  • Achieve Your Savings Goals - 11:30am – 1:00pm. We all have things in life that we want – let’s set you up for success financially to achieve them! Come prepared to develop short-mid-long term saving goals and learn the best techniques for saving to achieve those. Should you be saving or investing your money?
  • My New Space - 2:30pm – 4:00pm. Mandatory class for all Dorm residents after they hit the 2 year mark of prior to getting married.  Certificates are presented after completion of the class and given to the dorm manager by the Airmen.

Feb. 28

  • How To Invest When You Don’t Know Where To Begin - 11:30am – 1:00pm. Come learn investment 101 techniques! Is this the right time financially for you to invest? What avenues are out there for you to take advantage of when investing? Topics covered include the concept of investing, risk vs. reward, the importance of investing, assets, portfolio development, risk management … and most importantly – HOW TO INVEST!

Feb. 4

Feb. 7

  • Buying Your New Wheels - 2:30pm-3:30pm. Learn the techniques and valuable information in regards to purchasing a vehicle.  Make sure that you are financially ready to purchase a vehicle that you can afford.

Feb. 8

  • Navigating Federal Employment - 1:00pm-3:00pm. Join this workshop and learn how to navigate USA JOBS website and get your federal job!

Feb. 11

  • Home Selling - 2:00pm – 4:30pm. Class to educate on how to sell a home, what kind of info home sellers will need to sell their home, listing options, etc.

Feb. 19

  • Investment Fluency: Planning For Your Tomorrow Today - 2:00pm – 3:30pm. Learn the tools and resources that will allow you to enrich your financial growth while improving your investment fluency!

Feb. 25 – Mar. 1

  • Transition GPS Workshop - 8:00am – 4:30pm. Learn to transition and become “career ready” with ease!  Dept. of Labor Employment workshop and VA Benefits Briefing included.

Feb. 27

  • Spouse 101 – “The Heart Of The Team” - 9:00am – 2:00pm. Spouse 101 is a class to orient new spouses to the JB Charleston Naval & Air Force Community. Information will focus on the knowledge of military culture and community support resources essential to having a successful transition.

Feb. 28

  • Smooth Moves - 9:00am – 11:30am. Intended for individuals PCS-ing OUT. In partnership with supporting base agencies, this workshop provides information and resources on what to expect through the PCS process. Attendees are provided with information from how to initiate the movement of their household goods, entitlements to information on accessing resources at their gaining installation.
  • Employer Panel - 11:30am – 1:00pm. Various employers will service on a panel to answer industry and interview related questions, some will potentially be hiring.  We encourage all job seekers (active duty military, civilians and spouses) are encouraged to attend.  Business professional attire is required and a resume is highly encouraged. 
  • Professionalism Is For Everyone - 2:00pm – 3:30pm. Professionalism is critical both to the effective functioning of any business and to the success of any individual. Come learn the 5 principles that will keep you at the top of your game through professionalism.
