JOINT BASE CHARLESTON, S.C. –
Joint Base Charleston’s Office of Emergency Management hosted a capabilities briefing for their Charleston County civilian counterparts Aug. 23, 2018, at Joint Base Charleston. JB Charleston members were invited to an equivalent capabilities meeting held the same day by Charleston County personnel at the Charleston County Public Works Department.
The joint meeting between the two focused on displaying capabilities to Charleston County Emergency Management and Charleston County’s Weapons of Mass Destruction response team, comparing and contrasting response equipment as well as sharing tactics and procedures for hazardous materials (HAZMAT) as well as chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defense (CBRN) response. Over the past year, the two agencies have focused on integrating capabilities and improving processes. These joint endeavors are intended to promote shared mission success between the military and civilian community.
