Colonel David W. Myrick is the Deputy Commander, 437th Airlift Wing, Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina. The 437th Airlift Wing deploys Airmen and aircraft worldwide in support of contingency operations that involve the airland and airdrop delivery of forces, equipment, and supplies. These missions support combat operations, Joint Chiefs of Staff-directed special operations missions, and United States sponsored humanitarian relief efforts.

Colonel Myrick is originally from Greenville, NC. He received his ROTC commission in 2002 from North Carolina State University and then attended pilot training at Laughlin Air Force Base (AFB). Colonel Myrick then served two operational tours as a C-17 Pilot at McChord AFB and Charleston AFB, ultimately qualifying as a Lead Airdrop Evaluator Pilot. He then served as a Joint Planner and Staff Officer in the Aviation and Tactics Evaluation Group (AVTEG/JSOC). Following his staff tour at Ft Bragg he attended the U.S. Navy’s Command and Staff College in Newport, RI, followed by the U.S. Air Force’s School of Advanced Air and Space Studies at Maxwell AFB, AL. Colonel Myrick commanded the 57th Weapons Squadron (USAFWS) before serving on the Headquarters Air Force staff as a strategist and subsequently attending the National War College.
