Joint team delivers relief in Maria aftermath

Members of the 14th AS delivered more than 129,000 pounds of food and water to St. Croix, Virgin Islands in support of relief efforts after Hurricane Maria. The mission to St. Croix marked the second mission the crew flew to the Virgin Islands for humanitarian aid in 48 hours.

From Katrina to Irma – Airman driven by helping those in need

Staff Sgt. Rob Lummus, 15th Airlift Squadron loadmaster, helps medical professionals from Health and Human Services load baggage on a flight from Dulles International  Airport, Washington D.C., to Orlando, Florida, Sept. 9. The mission supported HHS as they coordinate the federal medical and public health medical support to the state of  Florida. Lummus' first exposure to a C-17 came when he was 17-years old volunteering during Hurricane Katrina.

A C-17 Globemaster III taxis on the runway at Joint Base Charleston, S.C. July 18, 2017.  The C-17 is capable of rapid strategic delivery of troops and all types of cargo to main operating bases or directly to forward bases in a deployment area. The aircraft can perform tactical airlift and airdrop missions and can transport litters and ambulatory patients during aeromedical evacuation.
