JB Charleston commander terminates limited evacuation order, recalls all personnel
September 15, 2018 — The Joint Base Charleston Commander terminated the limited evacuation order and issued a recall order for all remaining personnel, with the exception of personnel residing in Georgetown and Horry Counties, at 12 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018 after the governor’s announcement that lifted the state’s evacuation order. September 14, 2018 — Joint Base Charleston personnel assigned to the 437th Airlift Wing and 628th Air Base Wing began evacuation flights for 24 C-17 Globemaster III aircraft Sept. 11, 2018, in anticipation of Hurricane Florence making landfall. Aircrew gets firsthand view of Florida before, after Hurricane Irma

EFAC provides support for returning evacuees
October 17, 2016 — In response to Hurricane Matthew, an Emergency Family Assistance Center (EFAC) was activated here Oct. 12 to assist base employees and their families returning from evacuation. Due to Hurricane Matthew, a Limited Evacuation Order of South Carolina Hurricane Evacuation Zones was issued by the Commander, Joint Base Charleston. All Joint Base personnel are expected to evacuate the area and will return once damage has been assessed and it’s safe to return.
