Joint Base Charleston to host Hiring Our Heroes Transition Summit Aug. 21-23

JOINT BASE CHARLESTON, S.C. —

 

Joint Base Charleston is scheduled to host a U.S. Chamber of Commerce Hiring Our Heroes Transition Summit Aug. 21-23 at the Charleston Club, 100 W. Hill Blvd., Bldg. 325.

Join us for a free hiring fair and transition summit for service members, veterans, and military spouses. This summit features key federal and state agencies, influential military leaders, innovators in the business and employer communities, and local community leaders.

Employers, veteran service organizations and volunteers over 18-years-old requiring base access support must register by July 28 at: https://www.uschamberfoundation.org/event/joint-base-charleston-transition-summit

Transition job seekers, employers and service organizations need to register at the link as well. Online registration closes Aug. 21. Walk-ins are welcome with valid ID or credentials.

Military spouses can register for the ‘Keeping a Career on the move’ Military Spouse Symposium presented by MOAA Spouse Programs in partnership with Hiring Our Heroes’ Military Spouse Program on day one of the transition summit at: http://www.moaa.org/spousesymposium/ 

If you do not have existing base access privileges you will need to provide the information below to security forces for vetting in order to be granted access to the base. You will be emailed instructions on how to send your information after registering at the link.

• Last Name, First Name

• Date of Birth (yyyy/mm/dd)

• Driver's License State of Issue and Number

• Full Social Security Number

All registered veterans presenting a DD Form 214 and/or Veterans Administration ID will be allowed unescorted entry to the event after verification and another valid form of photo identification, i.e., driver's license, state identification, or U.S. passport.

This two-day transition summit will feature interactive and informative panel discussions, recruiter training, and facilitated discussions focused on improving competitive employment for service members, veterans, and military spouses. The summit will also include a networking reception for employers, military leaders, and job seekers, and will culminate in a hiring fair on the second day.

Service Member Transition Summits connect employers of every size and industry with talented veterans, service members, and military spouses through a series of town hall style panel discussions, networking receptions, employment workshops, and a Hiring Our Heroes hiring fair.
