U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer 2nd Class James Sokol, a maritime enforcement specialist assigned to USCG Station Charleston, signals an approaching vessel while performing inspections in support of Operation SHRIMP and GRITS in Charleston Harbor, August 9, 2019. Operation SHRIMP and GRITS is an annual multi-jurisdiction and multi-state maritime  law enforcement operation that promotes safety to recreational and commercial boaters traveling along the water across South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Florida. Approximately 104 different agencies in the four states participated in the operation with the U.S. Coast Guard, covering about 500 miles of coastline.
