Children from the Brig. Gen. Thomas R. Mikolajcik Child Development Center pretend to put out a fire Oct. 6, 2014, at the CDC parking lot on Joint Base Charleston, S.C. This week was fire prevention week and the JBCHS Fire Department hosted several events throughout the Air Base and Weapons Station. Fire prevention Week was Oct. 5 through 11, and the JB Charleston Fire Department hosted several events around the Air Base and Weapons Station. Fire prevention week was established in 1925 by President Calvin Coolidge when he became aware that close to 15,000 American citizens had been killed in fires the previous year.
