Fire Prevention Week
The Joint Base Charleston Fire Department visits the Brig. Gen. Thomas R. Mikolajcik Child Development Center, Oct. 6, 2014, on JB Charleston, S.C. Fire prevention Week was Oct. 5 through 11, and the JB Charleston Fire Department hosted several events around the Air Base and Weapons Station. Fire prevention week was established in 1925 by President Calvin Coolidge when he became aware that close to 15,000 American citizens had been killed in fires the previous year.
