Col. Don Shaffer met with retired Col. D.R. (Dewey) Bridges, and his son retired Col. John Bridges recently. The older Colonel Bridge flew the C-124 Globemaster II in the first-ever airdrop mission to Antarctica as part of Operation Deep Freeze and conducted the first C-123 rocket-assisted takeoff.
