C-17 Globemaster III aircraft sit draped in snow on the flightline at Joint Base Charleston Feb. 13 after an overnight snowstorm delivered more than three inches of snow. During the recent winter months, nightly low temperatures have dropped and the use of deicing machines to clear aircraft of debilitating ice sheets is commonly required. The snowstorm was an uncommon event for the Charleston area, resulting in several delayed takeoffs due to the base's first measurable snowfall in more than 10 years.
