“Our core values aren’t only to guide us through basic or technical training,” said Airman 1st Class Tyler Wehrung, a 628th Communications Squadron Radio Frequency Transmission Systems technician. “They are meant for us to follow our whole lives. ‘Integrity First’ is all about building character and doing the right thing when you are told to. If you mess something up, be honest and admit it. I have found you’re less likely to get in trouble by admitting to your fault. ‘Service Before Self’ is thinking about others before thinking about you. It means going beyond your job. For example, instead of thinking about your Evaluation Progress Report score, do something because it really matters to the community. ‘Excellence In All We Do’ is about doing the right thing to the best of your ability, the first time. I do my best and give 100 percent every time I am tasked to do something. If you don’t have time to do a task the right way, when are you going to have time to fix it? Hold your core values close. It won’t only make you a better Airman, but a better person as well.”
