The C-47 Skytrain, also known as Dakota or Gooney Bird, sits on display at Charleston Air Force Base between the years 1982 to 1989 and is still on display today. The C-47 was one of the most successful aircraft ever developed. Approximately 13,000 C-47 variants were produced including more than 2,000 built. (Courtesy Photo)
