Warrior of the Week: Senior Airman Samantha Sale-Martindale

By Staff Sgt. Daniel Bowles 437th Airlift Wing Public Affairs

Senior Airman Samantha Sale-Martindale is a member of the 437th Operations Support Squadron and has been stationed at Charleston AFB for more than three years.

She is currently deployed to the Middle East, and is assigned to the 816th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron.

In her deployed unit, Airman Sale-Martindale is an aviation resource manager. She manages and tracks all aircrew training and flight times. She also publishes flight authorizations for all C-17 missions in her squadron.

Airman Sale-Martindale performs additional duties as the 816 EAS anti-terrorism representative and is also a "flag program" representative. The program involves coordinating with individuals who desire U.S. flags to be flown on C-17 missions in honor of a family member.

While at Charleston AFB, Airman Valentine performs duties as an aviation resource manager as well. She manages all aircrew flight record folders, flight pay and flight physicals. In her daily tasks, she also publishes aeronautical orders and updates the Aircraft Resource Management System database.

She also handles several additional duties, including her assignment as the Status of Resources and Training System manager, security manager and passport representative for all four flying squadrons on Charleston AFB.

Airman Sale-Martindale said she contributes to Team Charleston's mission by ensuring all aircrew members are trained and qualified to fly their mission.

Off-duty she contributes to the community by volunteering at a local Crisis Ministries homeless shelter.

She said she also enjoys participating in volunteer opportunities at her deployed location, such as helping to move blood shipments destined for delivery at forward operating bases.

According to Airman Sale-Martindale, what she likes best about her job is being able to interact with aircrew and ensuring they are flying safe.

"It's nice to see directly how one person helps the mission," she said.

Airman Sale-Martindale's future career goal is to finish her college degree, and said she hopes to join the Reserve as an officer.

This "warrior of the week" hails from Lake of the Ozarks, Mo., and enlisted in the Air Force four years ago. She recently re-enlisted and was selected for promotion to staff sergeant.

She said she joined the Air Force after attending college for two years "to see the world and experience something new. My sisters are in the Army and my parents are retired Marines and I wanted to follow in their footsteps."

Staff Sgt. Devin Prasuhn-Robinson, an aircraft resources management supervisor with the 816 EAS, said Airman Sale-Martindale is dedicated to her education and her career.

"She made staff sergeant her first time testing, and she supports other base functions, such as the First Six Association and is also a 437 OSS Booster Club member," said Sergeant Prasuhn-Robinson. "Senior Airman Sale-Martindale is a very hard worker and a pleasure to have around the office."
