CHARLESTON AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. –
The awards for Team Charleston keep rolling in! It never ceases to amaze me the outstanding work we do here to save lives and deliver freedom everyday. Here are a few of the recent award winners from Air Mobility Command.
The 437th Airlift Wing Safety Office won the AMC Distinguished Flying Unit Safety Award. Tech. Sgt. Elliot Reed, 437th Medical Group, claimed the AMC Safety Medical Achievement Award while 2nd Lt. Tabatha Rand, 437th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, won the AMC Safety Officer of the Year Award in the additional duty category. These safety awards are a testament to everyone across the base as everyone has a part in the safety of our people.
The 437th Contracting Squadron won the Outstanding Contracting Unit (Small Squadron) Award and Maj. Shane Watson is the Outstanding Company Grade Contracting Officer of the Year.
Airmen and civilians from the 437th Aerial Port Squadron won awards as well. Staff Sgt. Justin Halterman is the Aerial Port Air Terminal Operations Professional of the Year, Senior Airman Deolinda Lindley is the Aerial Port Air Freight Professional of the Year, Thomas Freeman is the Traffic Management Civilian Professional of the Year and Kevin Fitchko is the Aerial Port Passenger Service Civilian Professional of the Year.

The 437th Logistics Readiness Squadron had three individual award winners. Senior Master Sgt. Curlie Alexander Jr. is the Logistics Plans Senior NCO of the Year, Staff Sgt. Tania Rickett is the Logistics Plans NCO of the Year and Senior Airman Ian Ouellette is the Transportation Airman of the Year.
On the intel side of the house, Lt. Col. Mechelle Bates, 437th Operations Support Squadron, is the Air Reserve Component Field Grade Officer of the Year and Master Sgt. Tony Levine, 437 OSS, is the Air Reserve Component Senior NCO of the Year.
It's not a surprise that our Reserve Airmen are also winning awards. Many of them are finishing up their 2-year mobilization and will head back to the civilian sector. We were busier in the past two years than we've even been. These citizen Airmen stood up and have served alongside their active-duty counterparts and have truly shined. We could not be who we are without the support of our Reserve partners and their employers. Thank you for your service to our nation.
Please continue to make me proud. Take care of yourselves and each other. You are the best of the best!
