CHARLESTON AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. –
Jeffrey "Bucs Fan" Lucas is the 2008-2009 Swami Cup Champion. The Tampa Bay Bucs booster bested 49 other contestants to take home this prestigious honor!
The hole-in-one, shooting, self-proclaimed king of mobility took the lead at the midway point of the season and never looked back. To recap the last two weeks, "Big Al" Urrutia captured the Week 16 crown while Gerald Amidon was the Week 17 winner with a sweet 15-1 record.
The Swami caught up with the new champion for an exclusive interview. When asked how it felt to be the overall champion, he said "It feels great! I was real close last year and I'm glad that I was actually able to beat out a lot of other tough players."
As for having a strategy to correctly pick weekly winners, "Bucs Fan" Lucas said he didn't really have one.
"I spent some time reviewing the team's records, head-to-head scores and key injury roster, but it mainly came down to who I felt would win," he said. "On close games that I had a hard time picking, I usually sided with the home team."
While his beloved Tampa Bay Buccaneers didn't make it to the Super Bowl, Mr. Lucas did make a prediction as to who will win in this year's game.
"I'm going to have to pick the Swami's "Super" Steelers to defeat their state rival, Philadelphia Eagles," he said.
The Swami and the Cowboys will be watching the Steelers on their march to their sixth super bowl this weekend. I predict they will edge the Arizona Cardinals 30-24 in the Super Bowl.
Now here is a look at the final standings:
1. Jeffrey Lucas .716
2. Bob Trout .699
3. Brian Sommerfeldt .682

Finally, I would like to thank all of my loyal supporters for another great year of Swami Cup action.
