CHARLESTON AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. –
COMMENT: My concern is with the dining facility. I've been there for the last couple weeks and eating lunch there almost every day. It's absolutely freezing in there. I've looked at the thermometer and it's like 61 or 62 degrees. I have filled out numerous comment cards and had some of the NCOs I was with fill out comment cards as well and asked them to turn up the heat in the dining facility.
We went there to eat Jan. 15, and it was again 62 degrees in there. I just would like them to turn up the heat. You shouldn't have to wear a jacket to eat your lunch. I would appreciate anything that could be done. Thank you very much.
RESPONSE: Thank you for your feedback concerning the lack of heat in the dining facility. On Jan 16, our civil engineering team received a call that the heat was not working in the dining facility. We expedited our heating, ventilation and air conditioning technicians and when they responded, they discovered the heating boiler was off-line. They reset the boiler and as the boiler temperatures began to rise and produce heat, they closed out the work order for this job.
On a return visit recently, the HVAC team discovered the boiler was only reaching 80 degrees instead of the desired 150 degrees. The team checked and tightened all connections and reset the controls. The boiler is now reaching its desired operating temperatures and the space temperature in the dining facility is 70 degrees. The civil engineering team will continue to monitor the boiler and heat output for any further problems. Thank you for bringing this important concern to our attention and we apologize for any inconvenience.
