CHARLESTON AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. –
To the members of Team Charleston,
It is always bitter-sweet to say goodbye after so many months of working together as one team during this historic time in our nation's history.
After more than two years as commander of the 315th Airlift Wing and 34 years serving in the world's premier Air Force, it is time for me to move on to another chapter in my life.
On April 19, Col. Steve Chapman will take the reins of the 315th Airlift Wing as my wife, Becky, and I look ahead finding new and exciting roads to travel.
As I reflect on the job that every one of you has accomplished and continue to do every day, I am in awe of your spirit and commitment to duty and country.
We see and hear the term "Team Charleston" all the time and it's easy to take it for granted. Make no mistake, your dedication to getting the job done whether reserve or active duty is a model to the rest of the Air Force.
Every day, our folks are standing side by side in just about everything we do loading airplanes at the aerial port squadron, swapping engines in maintenance and patrolling the streets with security forces.
We are truly one team in one fight and I have been proud to be a part of it and to serve with you. As I start my new journey, my thoughts will be with you, the men and women of the 315th and 437th Airlift Wings, the finest units in the Air Force. From now on, every time I see the Charleston palmetto tail flash, I know in my heart the important job you do for our nation is in good hands.
All my best...
Col. Tim Wrighton
