Make a difference

By Kevin Swiecicki 437th Airlift Wing antiterrorism advisor

In direct action after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, the United States Air Force implemented an aggressive program called "Eagle Eyes." This program is managed by the local Air Force Office of Special Investigations and with the assistance of everyone on base, the main program goal is to watch, report and protect.

While traveling to and from work, around the base, or while out with the family, your eyes and ears are an instrumental force multiplier to Charleston AFB's security and first responders. In times like these, where the military does more with less, your awareness and reporting may just be the key that saves the life of one or hundreds of Airmen and innocent civilians. All reports are taken seriously and immediately shared with the appropriate law enforcement agencies and military commanders for rapid assessment and investigation as necessary.

Always keep an Eagle Eye out for these suspicious behaviors:
- Surveillance
- Elicitation
- Tests of security
- Acquiring of supplies
- Suspicious persons out of place
- Individuals staging equipment

Your eyes and ears are critical weapons in our war against terrorism. You and your families are encouraged to be aware, be alert and report suspicious activities. Your inputs are critical in the defense of this base, your neighborhood, your community and most importantly, your country.

To report suspicious activities please call the 437th Security Forces Squadron Control Center, 24 hours-a-day, at 963-3600.
