CHARLESTON AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. –
Perhaps the biggest challenge facing our military today will be to develop organizations that can effectively recognize, relate and assimilate the global shifts in culture, technology and information.
For today's military, this means possessing an extraordinary range of capacities to fulfill these responsibilities in service to the mission and our profession.
Your responsibility to the mission is demonstrated by integrity, trust, truthfulness, candor and commitment. These are accomplished by supplying information and education on the needs and complexities of the service and delivering quality services with the utmost effectiveness and efficiency. You must maintain great communications with all organizations you provide services to and be concerned with the effectiveness and success of each mission. Be honest in your communications to each unit and do not promise something you cannot deliver.
Two sets of duties and obligations to your profession demand your highest priority. The first concentrates on inspiring leadership. You are responsible for developing future generations within your profession. You need to create career opportunities and develop talent and skill capacities at all ranks. By creating a career concept, you demonstrate what a good leader is and in maintaining high principles, even in the face of adversity, you must serve as the example.
Following closely is a set of modeling and enabling duties and responsibilities. You must ensure integrity and respect at all times. Provide guiding principles and values by exhibiting fair treatment of all personnel. Critical to your success will be providing the appropriate tools to do the job, including up-to-date technology, and creating a quality work environment.
Provide a vision, a clear mission, goals and objectives to your teams. And remember, be flexible to the changing world around you!
