Diamond Tips

By Tech. Sgt. Craig Carpenter Additional Duty First Sergeant, 437th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron

Motor Vehicle Operator Requirements

It's been a long day at work and you just want to get to the house. Kick your feet up, grab some chow and "veg" out on the couch. You are driving home, stuck in traffic and there is absolutely nothing on the radio. You grab the ole' iPod, put on your ear phone and start jamming. You probably play the best "steering wheel drum" and "dashboard piano" (I know I do), but did you know that according to Air Force Instruction 31-204 you are prohibited from wearing headphones and earphones while driving a motor vehicle on base? "But what about my cell phone...?" Not to worry I got your back. Charleston Air Force Base Instruction 31-204 prohibits the use of "headphones, earphones and other listening devices; except for hands-free cellular phone devices." Unless you have 3 points to spare on your license, let the on-air DJ spin your tunes.
