Green Knights win 2103 Knights of the Round Table competition

By Joint Base Charleston Public Affairs

Once again the Green Knights Motorcycle Club are the victors at the 2013 Knights of the Round Table competition Oct. 17 through 20, 2103, in Charleston, S.C.

The annual Knights of the Round Table Tournament is a motorcycle challenge between the Green Knights, representing military and DoD motorcyclists, Blue Knights, representing law enforcement, and Red Knights, representing the fire service members.

The Competition included events such as: best costume, blacksmith challenge, farthest traveler, the joust, a slow race, a timed race, and obstacle, road kill, and best knight. The totals were tallied and determined the Green Knights won the coveted knight's scepter and will host next year's competition.

"Patrick McMillian, 2013 Court Chairman, orchestrated the event while his dedicated committee worked the details all the way down to food and lodging," said Ray Sagan, Green Knights Chapter 37 president. "Everyone who came out said it was one of the best competitions yet."

Donations were accepted at the competition and $1500 was collected and donated to the Wounded Warrior project.

"Any money we raised went to the wounded warrior project," said Sagan. "It is our way of giving back to the military and all of those who have been injured during their service."

Aside from competing in the yearly challenge the Green Knights work to help service members improve their riding skills.

"The Green Knights provide mentorship and safe riding skills to all military riders whether they are experienced or inexperienced," said Sagan.
