SECAF gets firsthand look at JB Charleston mission
Secretary of the Air Force Deborah Lee James (center) is given a mission briefing May 6, 2014, by base leadership at Joint Base Charleston, S.C. JB Charleston was established in October 2010, and is home to the 628th Air Base Wing, the 437th and 315th Airlift Wings, and more than 50 tenant commands which were all highlighted during the briefing. James is the 23rd Secretary of the Air Force and was appointed to the position Dec. 20, 2013. She is responsible for the affairs of the Department of the Air Force, including organizing, training, equipping and providing for the welfare of its more than 690,000 active-duty, Guard, Reserve and civilian Airmen and their families.
