Team Charleston Spouses Club: Strengthening Connections, Supporting Families

By Senior Airman Carl Good

From morale boosting events to critical community support, the Team Charleston Spouses Club is making a lasting impact in the Joint Base Charleston community.

TCSC is a charity club staffed by volunteers who are dedicated to serving families through fellowship, philanthropy and service. The club conducts a number of programs yearly, including seasonal family functions, and manages the base Thrift Store and Airmen's Attic.

“One of the most rewarding parts has been watching our community come together, whether it’s through giving, volunteering or celebrating each other’s milestones,” said TCSC president Tori Brewer. “Leading this club means I get to witness firsthand the impact we have on families, especially through support services and community events.”

Along with community assistance, TCSC provides material support with its Thrift Store and Airmen’s Attic. Which serve as both a resource and a gathering spot.

“The mural painted on our Thrift Store and Airmen’s Attic last year was a beautiful symbol of our heritage,” said Brewer. “When it went viral, it really helped raise awareness of what we do.”

TCSC believes that strong families build strong communities. Providing needed resources and establishing relationships with military families, TCSC sees that resilience is built where all the families at Joint Base Charleston feel empowered, supported, and equipped to overcome the unique challenges of military life.

“The Team Charleston Spouses Club Thrift Store does more than raise money, we support military families and the community in many ways,” said Kelly Wilson, Thrift Store manager. “From donating books to teachers and blankets to Dorchester Paws, to providing uniforms for the Civil Air Patrol, we do what we can. If someone has a cause they care about, we try to help however possible.”

TCSC also partners with base leadership and other local organizations to expand its outreach. One notable example is its collaboration with the chapel for the annual Operation Cookie Drop, a holiday tradition that delivers homemade cookies and cheer to Airmen residing in base dormitories.

The mission of the club is to serve, support and connect Joint Base Charleston military families.  Whether it’s through volunteering, developing leadership skills, or building lifelong friendships, TCSC offers something for everyone.
