JB Charleston implements Hurricane Condition 3

Joint Base Charleston Public Affairs

Joint Base Charleston transitioned to Hurricane Condition 3 at 6 p.m. today, based on the projected path of Hurricane Ian.

Current weather patterns project Hurricane Ian to potentially impact the South Carolina coast within the next 48 hours.

Base leaders are in the process of evacuating all C-17 Globemaster III aircraft to safe-haven locations, in order to continue their Rapid Global Mobility mission. An evacuation order for Team Charleston personnel and their families has NOT been given at this time. Under HURCON 3, JB Charleston will continue to secure property that may be exposed to storm conditions.

The 628th Medical Group and Naval Health Clinic Charleston will close at noon tomorrow, and remain closed on Friday. The Child Development Centers and Youth Centers will also be closed on Friday. The Visitor Control Center will close at 3:30 p.m. tomorrow and remain closed on Friday.
