Warrior of the Week: Staff Sgt. Eric Yount

By 437th Aerial Port Squadron

Staff Sgt. Eric Yount is a capabilities forecaster with the 437th Aerial Port Squadron and has been stationed at Charleston AFB for six-and-a-half years. As a capabilities forecaster, Sergeant Yount's job includes working in an office that is the point of contact for all unique, hazardous and explosive cargo throughout Southern Command and designated locations in Iraq. He also helps the Tanker Airlift Control Center by providing them with real-world data to effectively match available lift with daily cargo tonnage generation to include reroutes, cancellations and add-on missions.

He contributes to Team Charleston's mission by making sure cargo is scheduled to arrive on time to meet mission requirements. He also keeps in contact with the contingency cell at TACC to make sure everything runs smoothly.

This "Warrior of the Week" hails from Holly Hill, S.C., and enlisted in the Air Force nearly seven years ago. He joined the Air Force to fulfill a dream he has had for a long time that was inspired by the military background in his family.

"The work that Sergeant Yount does as a capability forecaster is the drive shaft that links the mobility engine of the busiest CONUS aerial port to the driving force, our U.S. service members of Operation Iraqi Freedom," said Master Sgt. Gene Folsom. "He is a truly stellar performer and I'm proud to be associated with an individual of his caliber."
