CHARLESTON AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. –
Staff Sgt. Kevin Long is an aero repair technician with the 437th Maintenance Squadron and has been stationed at Charleston AFB for nearly four years.
As an aero repair technician, Sergeant Long's job includes removing and replacing flight control surfaces, landing gear components, cargo ramp and door components and adjusting these systems. He's also a crash recovery team member and shift supervisor.
"I like the fact that every day there will be something different to do. Not one day will be like the last," he said.
Sergeant Long contributes to Team Charleston's mission by making sure C-17s have properly operating landing gear systems and properly working flight controls to safely accomplish any mission.
This "Warrior of the Week" hails from Charlotte, N.C., and enlisted in the Air Force nearly eight years ago. He joined the Air Force to see the world and to take advantage of the higher education benefits.
"His work ethic, and self sacrifice goes beyond words," said Tech. Sgt. Keith Green, 437 MXS aero repair section chief. "He is a valuable asset to our section, a great person and a great supervisor."
