CHARLESTON AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. –
Staff Sgt. Gilbert Mincey is a contract specialist with the 437th Contracting Squadron and has been stationed at Charleston AFB for about one year.
As a contract specialist, he purchases, rents, leases and obtains supplies and services from various contracting services. He also reviews descriptions of required supplies and services, he solicits and selects sources, and he prepares and administers contracts.
He contributes to Team Charleston's mission by purchasing and establishing contracts to help Charleston AFB members complete their tasks.
This "Warrior of the Week" hails from San Francisco, Calif., and enlisted in the Air Force more than five years ago. He joined the Air Force because his wife also joined and he wanted to be with her and support her.
"I like my job because I love the people I work with and I always feel a sense of accomplishment when I fulfill a customer's requests and save them money," said Sergeant Mincey.
"Sergeant Mincey is fairly new to the career field but has already shown great potential," said Tech. Sgt. James Ting, 437th Contracting Squadron NCO in charge of Acquisition Flight A. "I have full confidence in his ability to manage expensive and complex contracts."
